India is currently in the midst of a heatwave, with temperatures in some areas soaring above 50 degrees Celsius. The heat is so intense that even at night, it remains scorching hot. According to reports from Indian media, a thief who broke into a house to steal ended up falling asleep because the air conditioning was too comfortable, leading to his immediate arrest by the police.
The incident took place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a drunken man learned that a house had been unoccupied for some time and decided to break in through the front door in the early hours of yesterday. After moving aside a cupboard, the man came across an air conditioner, which he turned on and laid down on the floor to relax, only to unexpectedly doze off.
When neighbors noticed the front door had been forced open, they immediately notified the homeowner who was working outside the city. The homeowner promptly called the police for help. Upon arrival, the police took photos of the man sleeping and promptly apprehended him. The man was found with a mobile phone in his hand, a water pump that he likely intended to steal, and some cash nearby.
Over the past few days, India has been experiencing extremely hot weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a press release yesterday stating that the northwestern, central, and eastern parts of India will continue to be engulfed in a heatwave for the next three days. In the capital city of New Delhi, temperatures could reach as high as 44.45 degrees Celsius.
