Staff at Wuzhou No. 7 Middle School in Guangxi verbally threaten student with “I’ll run you over with a car”

Recently, in Wuzhou No. 7 Middle School in Guangxi, many students left the school on leave as they had adult exams the next day. During this period, they were stopped by school staff and insulted with phrases like “I’ll run you over with a car”, causing public concern.

On October 19th, parents of students at Wuzhou No. 7 Middle School in Guangxi posted online, stating that last Friday night (October 16th) after self-study, at around 22:40, senior high school students were orderly passing through the facial recognition gate, but were blocked by school leader Zhang. He even pushed students who were picking things up from shelves at the school gate, and insulted them with remarks like “I’ll run you over with a car”. Some staff members said that there were 20 students on leave that night.

A video circulating on the internet shows students being blocked at the gate, complaining incessantly, and some using foul language. Subsequently, school personnel (Zhang) came out from the gate, pointing fingers at the students and loudly cursing, “I’ll run you over with a car”.

According to reports from “The Paper”, staff from Wuzhou No. 7 Middle School responded on October 21st, saying that the school operates on a boarding school system, and usually, students do not go home on Fridays, but stay at the school for self-study on Saturdays. However, there was an adult exam last Saturday, leading to more students taking leave. The teacher involved was not clear about the situation, has been criticized and educated, and “his emotional management was not appropriate, as the students were provoking him continuously, but he certainly had a problem.”

This incident immediately sparked online discussion.

Netizens commented, “How can you say something like ‘I’ll run you over with a car’ if you are not clear about the situation?”,”Just criticized???”,”Saying it was criticism, but there’s not even a picture of Zhang criticizing, I doubt if there was any criticism at all.”,”Teachers should lead by example, using such aggressive language is indeed inappropriate.”,”Is ‘I’ll run you over with a car’ something a teacher should say?”,”Is this kind of person suitable to be a teacher?”
