At the start of the new year in 2025, frequent earthquakes have been occurring in mainland China. Today on January 12, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake hit Hebei, with many internet users in Beijing and Tianjin reporting feeling the tremors. It is worth noting that on the same day, there was another earthquake in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet. Additionally, earthquakes also struck the Ali region of Tibet and Jinfeng District of Yinchuan City, Ningxia on the 12th.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, at 9:54 am on January 12, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake occurred in Renqiu City (latitude 38.58 degrees, longitude 115.98 degrees) in Cangzhou, Hebei, with a depth of 13 kilometers.
Many internet users in Beijing and Tianjin reported feeling the tremors, saying they felt a slight shake, were startled, or experienced two tremors.
Official measurements by the China Earthquake Networks Center indicated that at 1:27 am on January 12, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet, with a depth of 10 kilometers and the epicenter located at latitude 28.48 degrees, longitude 87.49 degrees.
The Dingri area in Tibet previously experienced a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake on January 7, resulting in significant casualties. As of 6:00 am on the 9th, 126 people have died, 188 were injured, many buildings collapsed, and 61,500 people were affected by the disaster.
Furthermore, on January 12 at 2:51 am, Ali Region’s Geze County in Tibet was struck by a 3.5 magnitude earthquake with a depth of 10 kilometers and the epicenter located at latitude 34.33 degrees, longitude 83.35 degrees.
At 5:41 am on the same day, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake hit Jinfeng District of Yinchuan City, Ningxia, with a depth of 17 kilometers and the epicenter at latitude 38.41 degrees, longitude 106.23 degrees.
Blogger “Gossip Sister” mentioned in a post that at 5:41 am, while many were still in their dreams, Jinfeng District in Yinchuan City experienced another sudden earthquake. The quake occurred in two consecutive shocks, was extremely intense, waking many from their sleep with deafening sounds and violent shaking, creating a sense of fear.
Just after the new year in 2025, on January 2 at 10:01 am, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit Yongning County in Yinchuan City, Ningxia, followed by a 4.6 magnitude earthquake at 4:43 pm in Jinfeng District of Yinchuan City.
The 4.8 and 4.6 magnitude earthquakes were strongly felt in Ningxia, Shanxi, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, and other nearby regions.
After the 4.8 and 4.6 magnitude earthquakes, multiple small tremors continue to occur in the area. For example, on January 3 at 3:45 am, a 2.6 magnitude earthquake hit Jinfeng District, causing noticeable tremors.
