The United States Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, has announced that the Treasury will support President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign against Iran by tracking all illegal funds flowing out of Iran and seeking to recover these funds on behalf of the Iranian people.
In a post on social media platform X on Saturday, Bessent stated that the President has launched “Operation Epic Fury” against the brutal Iranian regime and called on all parties involved in conflicts to lay down their arms and seek amnesty.
“The U.S. Treasury Department reaffirms our commitment to President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign by tracking all illegal funds flowing out of Iran and seeking to recover these funds on behalf of the Iranian people,” wrote Bessent.
Bessent revealed during a hearing at the U.S. Senate on February 5 that he had seen “the Iranian leadership frantically moving funds out of the country.”
He explained that this indicated “rats fleeing the sinking ship.” The Treasury Secretary added that this was a “positive sign” as it suggested that the end may be near for the Iranian leadership.
President Trump, following joint military actions against Iran, condemned the atrocities committed by the Iranian regime.
The President emphasized that the purpose of these strikes was to send a very simple message, that Iran must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
In his address, Trump stated, “Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and just recently, they killed tens of thousands of Iranian citizens in the street protests. The consistent policy of the U.S., especially my administration’s policy, is that this terror regime must never have nuclear weapons. I repeat, they must not have nuclear weapons.”
“Therefore, in the ‘Midnight Hammer’ operation last June, we destroyed their nuclear program facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. After that strike, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we attempted multiple times to reach an agreement. We tried. They would want to (agree) at one moment, then not want to, then want to again, and then not want to. They don’t even know what’s happening, just intent on evil. But Iran has rejected the (opportunity) as they have done repeatedly over the past few decades.”
“They have refused every chance to abandon their nuclear ambitions, and we can no longer tolerate it. Instead, they are seeking to rebuild their nuclear program and continue developing long-range missiles, which can now threaten our friends and allies in Europe, our overseas troops, and may soon reach the U.S. mainland. Just imagine, if this regime truly has and equips nuclear weapons, as a means to deliver their message, they will become even more reckless.”
Trump emphasized that the U.S. will make the Iranian regime quickly realize that “no one should challenge the strength and power of the U.S. armed forces.”
The President also addressed the Iranian armed forces and police, urging them to lay down their weapons or face death.
He urged the Iranian people to take control of their own destiny, to act and not miss this opportunity.
Trump assured the Iranian people that “your moment of freedom is approaching.” He warned the Iranian citizens to stay indoors as it is dangerous outside due to bombs.
“When the American mission is complete, you will take over the Iranian government, it will be yours,” the President said. “This may be the only opportunity for your generation.”
