Renowned Chinese-American painter Li Jinyu will be holding an art exhibition titled “Where Do We Come From?” at Flushing Town Hall from September 1st to 6th. The opening ceremony will take place on September 1st at 2:30 PM, and art enthusiasts in the local community are encouraged not to miss this rare artistic atmosphere.
Li Jinyu mentioned that over the years, she has been reflecting on certain matters and validating relevant historical records. “I have gained a new perspective on the timeless question of ‘Where do people come from?’ The accumulation of oil paintings made me want to organize an art exhibition.”
She shared her creative inspirations, stating, “The creative process is quite interesting, although challenging, it is filled with a driving force to move forward. Not only does it delve into the profound expression of painting themes and the utilization of techniques, but it also elevates inner cultivation. I have always believed that not only does literature convey principles, but paintings also convey principles.”
She further elaborated, “I consider the art exhibition as a bridge that connects many destined individuals. As the audience appreciates the paintings, I believe they are creating just like me. Through their appreciation and imagination, experiencing the beauty within the painting style, the enjoyment of art, they are also envisioning scenarios and related life experiences in their imagination.”
She believes that the current world is undergoing a significant transformation. Traditional culture can bring people peace, inner harmony, and spiritual well-being, which are very beneficial for people’s health. “I think that today, as we pursue materialistic lives, if we can regularly learn a bit of traditional culture, we can live a happier life.”
In 2024, Li Jinyu’s oil painting “Bringing Peace to the World” received the highest “Honorary Chairman Award” at the 31st International Painting Competition held in South Korea. Another one of her works, “Peonies Under the Moon, With Whom Do You Speak?” received a special award.
Li Jinyu has previously held solo art exhibitions in China, the United States, and Canada. Her oil paintings were exhibited at the Canadian Parliament in 2000. In 2013, she received a special commendation from U.S. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke for her outstanding contributions to community culture.
According to Li Jinyu, this exhibition will feature not only the theme “Where Do We Come From?” but also landscapes and everyday life subjects. The entire exhibition is free for entry, and everyone is welcome to visit.
