Renowned mainland Chinese blogger, Weibo influencer, and Anhui social media figure Wu Huaiyun was once again unlawfully detained in May 2025 and is currently being held at the Lu’an Detention Center in Anhui Province.
According to reports from rights advocacy websites, after Wu Huaiyun was arrested in May 2025, the authorities designated Huang Bin, a lawyer from the Guanchu Law Firm in Yuyao District of Lu’an, Anhui, to represent her in this case. It is publicly known that Huang Bin is a member of the Chinese Communist Party. The Yuyao District government of Lu’an City publicly disclosed that he had served as the legal advisor for multiple communities in Pingqiao Township in the district.
Journalists attempted to contact the National Security Brigade of Huoshan County in Lu’an City, the Huoshan County Public Security Bureau, and Huang Bin via phone but were unable to reach them. At present, the progress of the case is unknown to the public.
At 56 years old, Wu Huaiyun, also known as “Xinyue Baiyun,” hails from Huoshan County, Lu’an City, Anhui. Since 2009, she has faced multiple account suspensions on platforms like Weibo, blogs, and WeChat for posting current affairs commentary articles. In September 2018, Wu Huaiyun posted “Xi Hitler” on X platform, which the authorities deemed a direct attack on the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party, leading to her detention for 11 days.
In 2020, Wu Huaiyun’s home was forcibly demolished without reasonable compensation, prompting her to seek justice online.
On March 23, 2021, the Huoshan County Public Security Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party detained her on criminal charges related to her online posts, and the Huoshan County Court sentenced her to three years and ten months for “provoking trouble.”
Prior to this, Wu Huaiyun recalled that during her detention, she was violently beaten multiple times for not confessing. She was forced down on the bed by police and guards seven times, injected with unknown substances, rendering her weak and feeling hopeless each time.
After completing her sentence, on April 28, 2025, Wu Huaiyun was warned by the police again for her posts on X platform. They stated that regardless of the content she posts, accessing foreign websites through circumvention tools is considered illegal.
Chinese observers like Yi Yuan (pseudonym) expressed to Epoch Times that the Chinese Communist Party does not treat its people as normal individuals, depriving Chinese citizens of freedom. “We have no freedom of speech, no right to information, assembly, and all political rights have been completely stripped by the communist party. It seriously violates human rights and humiliates our dignity.”
Attention is requested for Anhui Huoshan County residents who have repeatedly faced legal consequences for their words.

Similarly, like Wu Huaiyun’s ordeal, Hubei human rights activist Yin Xuan, after completing his sentence in November 2023, was illegally detained again for over a year. On August 11, 2025, while seeking medical treatment in Beijing, he was repatriated by the Hubei authorities and has been missing for over a year, his whereabouts unknown. Despite his family’s lawyer’s two unsuccessful searches in Daye City, government departments keep shifting responsibilities.
Yin Zhi’an, a native of Daye City, Hubei Province, has been actively involved in rights advocacy activities since 2007, enduring multiple arrests, re-education through labor, and imprisonment in black jails. He has accumulated a total of 8 years in prison from two incarcerations.
The latest incident occurred on May 23, 2019, when Yin Xuan was detained on charges of “provoking trouble” for helping villagers with land rights issues. On July 21, 2021, the Daye City Court in Hubei sentenced him to 4 years and 6 months for the same charge.
Yin Xuan’s health deteriorated significantly in prison, requiring multiple lifesaving interventions. His blood pressure reached a dangerously high level of 300/220 mmHg and he suffers from coronary heart disease, necessitating urgent surgical treatment.
On August 1, 2021, he managed to break through government surveillance to go to Beijing for medical treatment but was abducted by the police in an ambulance that evening and has not returned since.
Wang Jianhong, a member of “Humanity in China” who has been closely monitoring Yin Xuan’s situation and currently resides in the UK, urged the public to pay attention to Yin Xuan’s safety. She posted on social media, “Yin Xuan, suffering from serious illnesses, has endured near-death experiences in detention, prisons, and black jails! Daye City of Hubei, let Yin Xuan return home for medical treatment!”
