New York Brooklyn shooting spree leaves 3 dead and 8 injured

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that a shooting incident occurred at a nightclub in Brooklyn early Sunday morning, resulting in 3 deaths and 8 injuries. The police are currently searching for multiple suspects.

Tisch said at a press conference that the police received multiple emergency calls around 3:27 a.m. on Sunday, reporting a shooting inside “Taste of the City” located at 903 Franklin Avenue.

“Within minutes of receiving the first batch of 911 calls, the police arrived at the scene and found multiple individuals shot. Currently, we have identified the 11 victims, ranging in age from 27 to 61, including 8 males and 3 females,” Tisch said.

Three men (two aged 27 and 35, the third one’s age unknown) were pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining 8 victims were taken to local hospitals, with injuries reported not to be life-threatening.

Tisch mentioned that the incident is still under investigation, but preliminary understanding suggests that the shooting was triggered by a dispute inside the club involving multiple gunmen. At least 36 shell casings from various firearms were found. As of now, no arrests have been made. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the scene and searching for suspects.

A gun was also found near Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway, and the police are investigating if it is connected to the shooting incident.

“11 people shot, 3 dead. This is a terrible shooting incident that happened in New York City,” Tisch said.

She added that in the first seven months of this year, New York City recorded the lowest levels of shooting incidents and shooting victims on record. She described the incident on Sunday morning as an “unusual event” and stated, “What occurred early this morning was a terrible incident, and we will conduct an investigation to uncover the truth.”

The police have cordoned off the area with caution tape and continued to collect evidence at the scene later on Sunday morning.
