Recently, news emerged that Lan Tianli, the Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government of the Chinese Communist Party, was taken away for investigation. Following this development, sources revealed to Hong Kong media that his brother and other relatives are also under scrutiny.
On May 13, Hong Kong’s Sing Tao Daily reported, citing reliable sources, that Lan Tianli was absent from two important events on the 12th, including a meeting of the Autonomous Region Party Committee. The news of his being taken away has been circulating locally.
According to the Guangxi Daily, from May 10 to 11, Lan Tianli conducted research trips to the cities of Hechi, Baise, and Chongzuo to oversee and inspect the rectification work on ecological and environmental protection issues.
On May 14, Hong Kong’s Sing Tao Daily, quoting insiders, disclosed that Lan Tianli was taken away in Nanning on the 12th, with rumors spreading that his brother and other relatives are also under investigation. The Chairman had been out of the public eye for several days, and news of his downfall quickly spread. It is believed that the official announcement will be made soon.
Reportedly, Lan Tianli has been active in the Guangxi political arena for over thirty years, and it is expected that his investigation will implicate numerous officials. Official sources announced yesterday that Pan Liaoting, the Deputy General Manager of the large state-owned enterprise Beibu Gulf International Port Group, is under investigation, but it is unknown if this is related to Lan.
The official Chinese Communist Party authorities have not yet announced Lan Tianli’s downfall. According to the anti-Communist influencer Yin Ke (screen name: Jiang Wangzheng) based in Australia, on May 12, he revealed on his self-media program that Lan Tianli is being investigated in relation to the Jin Xiangjun case.
Jin Xiangjun, who was the Governor of Shanxi Province and had previously worked in the Guangxi Autonomous Region, was officially announced to have fallen from power on April 12th this year. It is reported that one of the reasons for Jin Xiangjun’s downfall may have been a serious political error.
