On Saturday, August 15th, at Virginia State University (VSU), a shooting incident occurred during the early hours, leaving at least five people injured, with one in critical condition.
According to university officials, officers arrived at the 3300 block of Boisseau Street around 1:28 a.m. and found five individuals outside the student dormitory building at Virginia State University suffering from gunshot wounds.
“All five injured individuals were taken to local hospitals. One person is currently in critical condition. The other four individuals’ gunshot wounds are not life-threatening,” the official added.
Campus police earlier disclosed that the shooting took place near the Quad Annexes student dormitory area on the school grounds. Law enforcement authorities have been deployed to the scene, and the public has been advised to avoid the area.
Virginia State University posted on the social media platform X that the shooting incident involved “multiple suspects.” No arrests have been reported at this time.
According to university officials, the campus was initially placed on lockdown but has since been lifted. Significant police presence remains on-site, as confirmed by another university official to Fox Digital News.
Another university official informed Fox that the investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing, led by the Chesterfield County police, with assistance from Virginia State University police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
