The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated that the permanent representatives to the World Trade Organization (WTO) of Haiti, Madsen Chérubin, and Belize, Harold Young, visited Taiwan on August 31. This visit aimed to enhance understanding of Taiwan’s various fields of development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a press release welcoming the visit of Haiti’s permanent representative to the WTO, Madsen Chérubin, and Belize’s permanent representative to the WTO and UN Geneva Branch, Harold Young, from August 31 to September 4.
Madsen Chérubin, Haiti’s permanent representative, is a seasoned diplomat who has served as a special advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, Haiti’s Ambassador to Brazil, and Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic.
Harold Young, Belize’s permanent representative, has an academic background and has taught at the University of Belize and universities in the United States. Both permanent representatives have provided significant support for Taiwan within the WTO, demonstrating a firm stance in support of Taiwan.
During their visit, the guests will meet with the Supreme Court of the Republic of China, Ministry of Finance, Office of Trade Negotiations of the Executive Yuan, and the International Cooperation and Development Fund. They will also be hosted for a luncheon by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi and visit Taiwan’s technology industry to deepen their understanding of Taiwan’s current developments in economics, technology, democracy, and other fields.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China emphasized that the international geopolitical and economic environment is constantly changing. Haiti and Belize have long been supportive of Taiwan, serving as solid allies of Taiwan. The Ministry looks forward to further deepening interactions and exchanges with these two friendly nations and jointly working towards a vision of mutual prosperity and reciprocity.
