Hong Kong actress Sheren Tang, known as Ah Sheh, has gained renewed popularity due to the recent success of the Hong Kong drama series “News Queen 2”. In a recent interview, she mentioned that the recent passing of several seniors, including her godfather Alfred Hui, has led her to have a deeper understanding of life and death. As a result, she has already prepared her will, detailing that her assets worth over two billion will be distributed according to her wishes.
“News Queen 2” has continued the success of its predecessor, propelling Sheren Tang’s acting career to new heights. During promotional interviews for the series, she mostly discussed character portrayal and her observations of the news industry, until she was asked about her life plans, which prompted her to talk about her will for the first time.
Sheren Tang mentioned the passing of her godfather Alfred Hui, a loss that has given her a more profound insight into life. She openly shared that she has already set up her will, stating, “I have worked so hard to earn this money. If something happens to me, do not squander my lifelong savings, do not misuse them. I hope they can be distributed according to my intentions.”
At 50 years old, Sheren Tang has reduced her workload by half in the past two years to spend more time with her family. Although she has not yet married or had children, she harbors no regrets, saying, “I have surpassed the longing for having children. Seeing friends with kids, they are certainly happy, but the amount of time, energy, and effort required is immense, even more exhausting than acting. I don’t think I am someone who enjoys bearing that kind of pressure.”
Sheren Tang candidly expressed her desire to go back to being 30 years old, a time where happy events such as dating, marriage, and having children occurred. She acknowledged that another phase of life involves dealing with various separations and farewells. She added that since life is fleeting and experiencing the stages of aging and death is inevitable, she intends to use her lifetime to do more things that she believes can help others and fulfill herself.
In October 28th of this year, Alfred Hui passed away due to illness. As his goddaughter, Sheren Tang choked up and shed tears during an interview, sending a message to him, “Dad, even though I miss you, I won’t cry anymore. I will think of you, and I will always be happy, and I will take care of your family.”
Sheren Tang entered the entertainment industry in 1997 as the third runner-up in the Hong Kong Miss Hong Kong Pageant. Initially facing criticism for her acting skills when she first appeared on screen, she persevered with determination, progressing from supporting roles to lead roles and from being criticized to being praised, ultimately winning two TVB Best Actress awards before leaving the station.
Sheren Tang, who has won the Best Actress award in Hong Kong twice for her outstanding acting skills, played the role of “Consort Xian” in the mainland drama “Story of Yanxi Palace” in 2018, receiving widespread acclaim for her meticulous performance. She then returned to TVB to film “News Queen”, and won her third Best Actress award for her role as “Wen Hui Xin”. With over 30 years of acting career, Sheren Tang has proven her talent through various works and accumulated a substantial fortune.
According to industry estimates, Sheren Tang’s total assets have exceeded 200 million Hong Kong dollars, with the core assets being multiple properties she has purchased over the years. She owns five to seven properties, including residential and commercial units, with a total market value exceeding 180 million Hong Kong dollars. In addition, she also owns multiple luxury cars, fund investments, and shares in several businesses. In her will, the core beneficiaries of this substantial inheritance are her family members.
Sheren Tang’s immediate family includes her mother and two brothers. In her planning, her mother is the main inheritor of the assets, reflecting her deep concern for her mother. Information shared on her social media reveals her mother’s serious illness in earlier years, although she never disclosed the specific condition, her emphasis on her mother’s health during birthday celebrations indicates the severity of her mother’s illness.
To better care for her mother, Sheren Tang significantly reduced her workload after the pandemic and mostly took on local Hong Kong projects to be able to be by her mother’s side at all times. With her mother’s condition now under control, she feels more at ease, but the time spent together has not diminished.
Sheren Tang has also included her older brother and younger brother as beneficiaries, continuing her emphasis on family. After striving in the entertainment industry for many years, Sheren Tang has always maintained a low-key private life. At 50 years old and still single, she values the companionship of her family above all else. She has shared photos of family gatherings on social platforms, expressing her appreciation for such moments of togetherness. This deep regard for family ties has made her will-making decision a heartfelt one. As she said, money can never buy family bonds, preparing for the worst allows one to cherish the present moments even more.
