In recent days, the Western Regional Branch of the China Democracy Party United Front gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles to respond to the “International Day for the Abolition of Slavery” on December 2, condemning the Chinese Communist Party for implementing a modern system of slavery using state power. Dozens of party members and supporters participated in the rally.
At the event last Sunday (November 30), participants held banners with slogans such as “Against slavery, oppression, and dictatorship”, collectively chanting slogans to protest against the CCP’s enslavement of the Chinese people since seizing power, completely depriving the people of their freedom of thought, dignity, and basic human rights.
The event’s host, Yi Yong, stated during his speech that since 2023 the United Nations has explicitly included “state-manufactured thought control” in the category of modern slavery, which reveals that contemporary authoritarian states form new structures of slavery through forced brainwashing, systematic censorship, surveillance systems, and forced labor. The actions of the CCP are a true portrayal of the regime creating modern slavery.
Several democracy activists from mainland China spoke at the event, accusing the CCP of implementing forced labor and “thought reform” in prisons, detention centers, re-education camps, and “transformation centers” for a long time. Large numbers of people have been arbitrarily detained for their beliefs, human rights activities, legal political expressions, or refusal to comply with illegal dictatorial enslavement, resulting in the complete deprivation of their legal rights.
Speakers emphasized that the CCP’s thought control and forced brainwashing not only exist in the prison system but have also permeated various aspects of education, media, and social management, placing the entire population in a state of forced obedience and enslavement.
“When it comes to the system of slavery, people may think it is distant, but in fact, being enslaved is the current reality in China,” said Liu Chao, one of the event organizers and a member of the China Democracy Party. The CCP’s enslavement of people is not just about restricting individuals but a systematic, institutionalized oppression structure, including brainwashing, re-education, fear tactics, etc., with the ultimate goal of making people serve as slaves for generations to come and serving the red elite.
“Today, we are gathering to tell the world that silence is not an option. As long as someone is detained, deprived of freedom and dignity, suppressed for speaking out, leading to broken families, we have the right to resist tyranny!” Liu Chao said.
Volunteer labor Lao Shaohai believes that the CCP’s brainwashing of the Chinese people is a “fraudulent” means of enslaving the people. “Patriotism equals licking communism; liberation, openness means enslavement… State ownership means party ownership, official ownership!” he said. “We have been enslaved by the Communist Party for 76 years, do we still want to be enslaved? I want to say no loudly to brainwashing! Say no to slavery!”
China Democracy Party member Zhang Weiqing emphasized that this rally is to give voice to all those who have been subjected to forced labor, detained, brainwashed, and deprived of freedom by the CCP. He called on Chinese people both domestically and abroad to join the protest against the “modern slavery” by the CCP and appealed to the international community for support: “As long as (the CCP’s) modern slavery still exists, we will not stop exposing and protesting.”
