Kentucky Shooting: One police officer and multiple people injured in church

On Sunday morning (July 13), a shooting incident occurred in Fayette County, Kentucky, in the United States, resulting in a police officer being injured and multiple individuals wounded inside a Baptist church. The shooter has been reported dead. Authorities are currently investigating the shooting incident.

According to a post by the Kentucky State Police (KSP) on the social media platform X, the incident took place at 11:36 a.m. on Sunday. The suspect fired at a police officer and then fled the scene, eventually reaching the Richmond Road Baptist Church.

The KSP stated in their post, “Currently, we can confirm that the injured police officer is receiving treatment. There are multiple victims inside the church, and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel are on-site. The suspect is deceased.”

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear posted on X about the shooting incident and urged everyone to pray for the victims.

“Please pray for all those affected by these senseless acts of violence. Let us thank the Lexington Police Department and the Kentucky State Police for their swift response,” he said. “Details are still emerging, and we will share more information as soon as possible.”
