Diving Champion Quan Hongchan Admits She Doesn’t Want to Be a Coach, Desires Personal Space

On September 24, Chinese Olympic diving champion Quan Hongchan candidly expressed during a live broadcast that she does not want to become a coach and instead, wishes to “go home” and have her own space, sparking resonance among netizens.

Yesterday, Quan Hongchan, along with fellow Chinese divers Chen Yuxi, Long Daoyi, Wang Zongyuan, and others, attended a business event organized by the diving team sponsor, “Gao Tu Technology Education Company.”

During the live interview, while others appeared slightly nervous, Quan Hongchan seemed relaxed, constantly munching on snacks on the table. She even joked that her coach, Chen Ruolin, asked her about her weight the previous night, to which she replied, “There is no scale here, I can’t weigh myself,” making everyone present chuckle.

When the host asked her if she wants to become a diving coach in the future, she frankly admitted that she does not want to be a coach and wants to do her own thing.

The host inquired, “What do you want to do now?” Quan Hongchan paused for a moment, then bluntly said, “I want to go home.”

The host empathized, “Feeling tired, just want to take a rest, right?” Quan Hongchan replied, “Yes, you guessed it right.”

The host further questioned, “Do you want to have your own space?” To which she replied, “Yes, exactly.”

Quan Hongchan’s response struck a chord with many netizens: “She wants to go home because she left home at the age of 7, lacking family life; home is where she can truly relax and be herself, doing what she loves.” “From joining the national team until now, the days spent playing at home probably don’t even add up to a summer vacation of an ordinary family! Not easy at all.” “I admire her pragmatism, focusing on being herself rather than wearing masks and traveling all over China; that’s why many people like her.”

Quan Hongchan started learning diving at the age of 7, participated in the Olympics at 14, and won the championship, becoming one of the youngest diving champions in history, making a remarkable debut and becoming a prominent sports star.

However, this also brought overwhelming attention, frequent appearances at various public events, promoting government initiatives, and participating in numerous commercial activities for sponsors, which became overwhelming for Quan Hongchan.

Quan Hongchan has repeatedly expressed the desire to have a space of her own. To protect her privacy, her whole family quietly moved away from the bustling city and chose a remote fruit orchard as their new home, hoping to rediscover the joy and tranquility of the past.
