Recently, a worker named Chen Xianglu from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, has become popular on the internet due to his striking resemblance in appearance and demeanor to the artist Chen Xiaochun, sparking a viral online search for his lost relatives. However, through a live broadcast, Chen clarified that he is not the long-lost brother of Chen Xiaochun.
On October 14th, a netizen in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, posted a video claiming that a laser cutting operator in their factory bears a strong resemblance to the singer Chen Xiaochun. According to the introduction, this worker surnamed Chen is in his fifties, speaks with a Cantonese accent, and coincidentally has the character “Lu” in his name, which is related to the original name of Chen Xiaochun’s lost brother.
In the video, Master Chen not only looks similar to Chen Xiaochun in facial features, body posture, and walking style, but also coincidentally matches in age, surname, and accent. Some netizens commented, “The level of resemblance is so high that even DNA would be taken aback.”
In his earlier years, Chen Xiaochun revealed on a variety show that his family was impoverished when he was young, and his youngest brother was put up for adoption. After the video went viral, a large number of netizens flooded Chen Xiaochun’s social media accounts, urging him to reunite with his possible sibling. Subsequently, rumors emerged online about “Chen Xiaochun’s brother having a plum blossom birthmark,” and more.
As public opinion continued to escalate, on October 15th, the individual who filmed the video posted a response stating that the worker in the workshop merely coincidentally resembles Chen Xiaochun and is not his brother. The video was shot casually without ill intentions. Unexpectedly, the video went viral, pressuring the company where he worked significantly. In order to avoid further controversy, he voluntarily resigned. He mentioned that they will conduct a live broadcast with Master Chen to address everyone’s doubts.
According to reports from Cover News, the individual Chen Xianglu later responded in a live broadcast, affirming that he is not the brother of Chen Xiaochun, was not adopted, and does not possess the rumored plum blossom birthmark.
Master Chen introduced himself as 47 years old, with two older brothers and one sister at home, and unmarried. He recalled that when he used to work in Guangdong, many people would tell him he looked like Chen Xiaochun. He used to be a boss himself but turned to working in a factory after his business failed. He urged netizens to stop speculations and refrain from disturbing his normal work and life.
As of now, Chen Xiaochun and his team have not made any public response to this incident.
