New York City police said on Monday (August 31) around 4:26 pm, a woman wielding two knives near 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue stabbed a man and a woman. She then fled north towards the location of the New York City Police Department precinct. At the time, the woman refused to drop the knives despite officers’ demands, and at 4:27 pm, the police shot and hit the woman.
The authorities initially classified the case as an armed robbery. However, they later revised it, stating that preliminary investigations indicated the emotionally disturbed woman attacked without a clear motive.
According to ABC News, citing an unnamed police source, both the woman stabbed and the woman shot by the police succumbed to their injuries, while the man stabbed remains in critical condition.
Police have blocked traffic between West 42nd Street and West 47th Street following the incident, and investigations are still ongoing.
