The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) announced today that Minister Lin Chia-lung will lead a delegation to visit Palau on the 27th, to attend activities related to the Pacific Islands Forum Summit and to meet with Palau’s President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr.
Minister Lin Chia-lung will lead the delegation to the Republic of Palau from August 27 to September 3 to participate in the 55th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Summit and related activities.
The activities of the Pacific Islands Forum Summit include the 30th Taiwan/Republic of China and Pacific Islands Forum Nation Dialogue Meeting organized by the PIF Secretariat, and the “Pacific Prosperity Exhibition” hosted by Palau. Together with allies from the Pacific and like-minded countries in the Pacific region, they will witness Taiwan’s cooperation achievements in promoting digital resilience, renewable energy, infrastructure, climate change adaptation, smart healthcare, and social empowerment in the Pacific region in recent years.
During his visit to Palau, Minister Lin Chia-lung will engage in sideline exchanges with delegations from Taiwan’s Pacific allies and other friendly countries to deepen Taiwan’s partnerships with Pacific Island countries and exchange views on issues related to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Additionally, Minister Lin Chia-lung will meet with President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. and Vice President Raynold B. Oilouch of the Republic of Palau, as well as visit the Palau National Hospital and projects related to the “Rongbang Plan” jointly promoted by Taiwan and Palau to understand the implementation status of the plan and future cooperation directions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that to demonstrate the spirit of “comprehensive diplomacy,” the delegation has also invited representatives from the Asia Taiwan Chambers of Commerce, the Attic Club, as well as industry representatives from Taiwan in energy, technology, food, construction, and organic agriculture to participate in the Rongbang Exhibition and related exchange activities. Through government and private sector cooperation, leveraging Taiwan’s strengths in digital technology, smart healthcare, energy transition, and sustainable development, they aim to promote further technological exchanges, industrial cooperation, and investment opportunities.
