This year marks the 37th anniversary of the “June Fourth” incident. Epoch Times has exclusively obtained more than two thousand never-before-seen historical photos of the “June Fourth” incident, allowing the public to revisit those years that the Chinese Communist Party has been striving to conceal and erase.
In the spring and early summer of 1989, a student-led democratic movement that shook the world ignited at Tiananmen Square in Beijing and quickly spread throughout China. Millions of students and civilians took to the streets, peacefully and rationally expressing their opposition to corruption and demanding democracy and freedom. However, the top leadership of the Chinese Communist Party secretly mobilized a large number of regular troops, and in the early hours of June 4th, they launched a comprehensive crackdown on civilians using tanks and machine guns. According to unofficial estimates, the CCP shot and killed thousands to tens of thousands of people.
An official photographer who was present at the scene back then completely documented this history, and the large amount of film he shot has been sealed for 37 years. In the final stage of his life, this elderly man entrusted these precious photos to Epoch Times for public release, which include both color and black-and-white photos, totaling more than 2000. Recently, the CCP is threatening and harassing individuals it believes are associated with these photos, including Chinese and American citizens.
For 37 years, the CCP has continued to cover up and suppress the truth of the incident, smearing the peaceful demonstrations of the students as “counter-revolutionary riots,” and has long denied the fact that the military opened fire on civilians. However, history will not disappear due to censorship.
To fulfill this old man’s last wish, Epoch Times is releasing in batches, for the first time, these dormant “June Fourth” photos that have been asleep for 37 years, allowing readers to revisit that period of heartbreaking history and reminding the world not to forget the CCP’s brutal massacre of its own people. The CCP continues to intensify its persecution and intimidation of innocent people today, including threatening Epoch Times staff not to publish these photos.
