The event attracted more than 50 kind-hearted individuals who generously donated to support the cause. Dr. He Gongcheng himself made a generous contribution of over $11,000, making a significant contribution to the team’s fundraising efforts. On the day of the event, Dr. Chen Yanfeng and Dr. Xiao Peiying represented the team on stage to receive awards.
During the event, the Chen-He swim team had the honor of inviting Dr. Leung Weineng, President of the Zhongshan Medical Eastern Alumni Association, and Director Dr. Xiao Peiying to participate, demonstrating the spirit of philanthropy in the Chinese medical community.
The “Swim Across America Anti-Cancer Charity Event” was founded in 1987 by the non-profit organization “Swim Across America,” which has raised over $100 million to date for cancer research and treatment projects, funding oncology research, cancer treatment, and patient care.
The Chen-He Medical Swim Team, initiated by Dr. Chen Zhinian and Dr. He Gongcheng from the “Bai Kang Rende” Group, rallied many medical professionals and employees to participate. “Bai Kang Rende” is one of the largest medical groups serving the Chinese community in the United States. In addition to raising funds for cancer research, this event also honors patients and colleagues who have fought against the disease, and continues to support cancer survivors, illuminating the light of hope for more families.
“On the road to fighting cancer, we walk together. We are willing to ignite the light of hope with the power of waves.” Representatives of the team expressed their hopes for more colleagues and community members to participate together next year, injecting more strength into the fight against cancer.
