Bread Ahead, the popular bakery from London that has captured the hearts of countless food lovers, is set to make its mark in Manhattan, crossing over the Atlantic to open its first-ever flagship store in the United States this November. Located at 1571-1572 2nd Avenue on the corner of 82nd Street in New York City’s Upper East Side, the new branch will not only offer freshly baked bread and pastries but also introduce the brand’s highly acclaimed artisan baking school to New Yorkers.
Founded in 2013, Bread Ahead initially started as a small stall in Borough Market selling only sourdough bread, chocolate brownies, and Italian almond biscuits. However, it gained fame for its uniquely crafted doughnuts and has since expanded to multiple locations in London, as well as extended its business to the Middle East and Asia.
The highlight of the upcoming flagship store in New York will undoubtedly be their signature “Crème Brûlée Doughnut.” This particular doughnut is a bestseller, with the London outlets selling around 2,000 of these out of the 6,000 doughnuts sold daily.
In addition to the Crème Brûlée variety, the store will offer a selection of other flavors including raspberry jam, sea salt caramel, pistachio, tiramisu, S’mores, and Eton Mess doughnuts. They will also have a daily assortment of freshly baked sourdough bread, croissants, and various French pastries.
Aside from delectable pastries, Bread Ahead will also bring its renowned baking school, established in London in 2014, to New York, offering hands-on classes for beginners and experienced baking enthusiasts. The classes will cover the making of signature doughnuts, sourdough bread, croissants, New York bagels, Italian pizzas, and more. Most of the hands-on courses, which last around 3 hours, are priced at $150.
To celebrate the launch of its first U.S. store, Bread Ahead is currently running a “buy one, get one free” birthday promotion, with reservations now open.
