Mainland Businessman: Rapid Economic Decline Hopes Chinese People Wake Up

Yang Zhanqun, a businessman from mainland China, has fled to Germany after experiencing forced demolition of his farm and pandemic lockdowns. Through his experiences, he has come to see the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and hopes to share his story in the Epoch Times to awaken more Chinese people.

Born into a teacher’s family in Northeast China, Yang was enlightened by his father from a young age to not believe the CCP’s propaganda. He started from scratch, engaging in various small businesses, accumulating funds, and gradually expanding his ventures. He was a determined entrepreneur from Northeast China.

In 2015, Yang ventured into the breeding industry in Wuji County, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, establishing the Qunfang Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. with an investment of 1.5 million yuan. Their main focus was on breeding fur animals like minks.

After enduring six months of government-forced demolitions, where over a hundred properties, including farms, breeding facilities, orchards, and tile factories were affected, Yang found no recourse through legal channels. Later in 2019, massive outbreaks in Wuhan led to nationwide lockdowns, restricting movement and mandating health code tracking for individuals.

In 2021, a major outbreak in Gaocheng District, Shijiazhuang, resulted in nearly 30,000 people being forcibly quarantined. Yang, witnessing the suffering of those around him, felt compelled to share his story to raise awareness about the CCP’s oppressive policies.

Yang believes that under the CCP’s rule, human lives are considered expendable as policies are strictly enforced at the cost of people’s well-being. The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have crippled China’s economy, causing widespread unemployment and economic downturn.

Realizing the bleak future under continued restrictions, Yang took two and a half years to navigate the process of leaving China. In early 2023, he flew to Croatia through a work visa and eventually settled in Germany, advocating against the CCP’s repressive tactics in various ways, including participating in “anti-extradition” movements.

On New Year’s Eve in 2023, Yang protested in front of the Chinese consulate, demanding justice for his lost land and farms, and calling for an end to CCP’s rule. He hopes to see Xi Jinping and the CCP fall from power and dreams of returning to China one day to pay respects to his deceased parents.

By sharing his ordeal in the Epoch Times, Yang aims to shed light on the reality of life under the CCP and hopes to awaken more Chinese people to the truths he has witnessed. He remains optimistic that one day, the CCP will be overthrown, paving the way for a more just and free China where individuals can live without fear of oppression.
