Commentator Exposes Corruption in the Family of Huang Qifan, Predicts Chongqing Officials Will Be Distressed

Before the Fifth Plenary Session of the Chinese Communist Party, on October 13th, former Mayor of Chongqing, Huang Qifan, suddenly fell from power. The issue of corruption within the Huang Qifan family has been brought to light again. Some comments indicate that Huang Qifan was able to maintain his position for so long because his biggest supporter was the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin.

Political commentator “President Zhen of Political and Economic Affairs” expressed on social media, “It is said that Huang Qifan is like a cat with nine lives. This time, he couldn’t survive the corruption case in Chongqing. The state-owned assets and financial system in Chongqing will have to face another round of turmoil.”

He stated, “Many people only know Huang Qifan as a capable official, but they are unaware of his corruption stories. Mr. Huang can be called the emperor of state-owned assets and the financial sector in Chongqing. His son was very active in Chongqing back then, probably amassing a fortune of billions. Mr. Huang was involved in benefit conveyance and was quite powerful. Many thought his backstage supporter was Wu Bangguo, but they didn’t know he had connections with many members of the Politburo Standing Committee, including the archenemy of Bo Xilai – Wen Jiabao. Well, let’s wait for the live broadcast tomorrow night to reveal more. Mr. Huang’s girlfriend is also quite remarkable.”

Former Wen Wei Po journalist Jiang Weiping revealed on Radio Free Asia on July 1, 2016, that the state-owned Chongqing steel plant incurred annual losses of over 3 billion yuan, yet it continuously imported iron ore from Australia, transferring huge profits to foreign agents, with Huang Qifan’s son serving as the agent, who had already become a billionaire.

Insiders also disclosed that Huang’s controlled state-owned enterprises engaged in agriculture in Brazil through his son acting as a middleman. While the Chongqing state-owned enterprises suffered heavy losses, his son made a fortune over the years.

Informants reported to the central government that Huang had been audited for more than 8 months during his tenure. However, as Huang had already bribed the “Shanghai Gang” bosses, some supported him or were caught by him, allowing him to escape unscathed. Thus, he weathered six party secretaries without falling, earning the title “Elder of the Six Dynasties” simply because of his wealth.

The article also stated that Huang Qifan is a member of Jiang Zemin’s “Shanghai Gang” and a “big swindler” who roams the Jianghu of “Shanghai Bund.”

Since serving as Vice Mayor of Chongqing in October 2001, Huang Qifan has worked under six party secretaries of Chongqing including He Guoqiang, Huang Zhendong, Wang Yang, Bo Xilai, Zhang Dejiang, and Sun Zhengcai, earning him the title of “Elder of the Six Dynasties.”

Regarding Huang Qifan’s prolonged tenure, political commentator Lin Baohua believes that someone more powerful than Wu Bangguo was backing him. Lin Baohua disclosed that Huang Qifan’s connections to the corruption of Jiang Zemin’s son and Jiang Zemin himself were his biggest backers.
