Due to the signal modernization project on the Queens Blvd Line, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will be adjusting subway services to Kennedy International Airport (JFK) this weekend. From 11:45 p.m. on July 31 (Friday) until 5 a.m. on August 3 (Monday), the E train will temporarily cease service to Sutphin Blvd–Archer Av–JFK Airport station, and passengers will not be able to transfer to AirTrain to reach the terminals as usual.
During the construction period this weekend, MTA will provide free shuttle buses, and the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) will implement cross-honoring measures to facilitate passenger rerouting. MTA recommends passengers heading to the airport to take the A train to Howard Beach–JFK Airport station, then transfer to AirTrain to avoid the affected route.
JFK Airport has stated that while there are some interruptions on the AirTrain, service between Howard Beach, Lefferts Blvd, Federal Circle, and the terminals is still operational. The airport advises passengers to allow more travel time and consider alternative transportation options depending on the situation.
MTA and JFK Airport are urging people flying in or picking up passengers over the weekend to check the latest transportation announcements before heading out and allocate ample time to avoid disruptions caused by construction and service adjustments.
