Recently, in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, a truck driver born after the 1990s passed away in his vehicle while resting at a service area in another location. Three days later, his body was discovered and had already started to decompose.
According to reports from Shanhai News and Xiaoxiang Morning Post on July 29, an informant revealed that on the evening of July 22, Mr. Liu, the truck driver, parked at a service area in Binzhou, Shaanxi for rest and became uncontactable afterwards. After much inquiry by his family, they rushed to the service area three days later and found his body in the driver’s cab.
Following the incident, Mr. Liu’s body was taken back by his family. However, due to his elderly father’s inability to drive over a thousand kilometers back to their hometown in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, four trucker friends, upon learning of the news, selflessly pooled resources, took turns driving, and escorted the vehicle back to Mr. Liu’s ancestral home.
“One person remained in the vehicle for three days before being discovered, resulting in a strong odor inside the cabin and continuous liquid leakage from the vehicle body,” said one of the trucker friends from Shandong. Prior to their journey, the four individuals personally purchased disinfection supplies, thoroughly cleaned and sterilized the entire vehicle, yet the smell lingered for a long time.
As described by one of the trucker friends, Mr. Liu, only 34 years old and divorced, lived with his aging father and 7-year-old daughter. Upon learning of his family’s hardships, the group also collectively donated 2,000 RMB to his daughter.
Netizens expressed their sorrow, stating, “Life is tough,” “Post-90s generation passing away earlier than the post-70s,” and “Health comes first, it’s the truth wherever you go. Money can be earned back, but once life is lost, nothing matters.”
Sadly, this tragedy is not an isolated incident.
In August 2025, a 54-year-old truck driver in Anhui passed away while resting at a service area and was found three days later, with his body having turned into “water” due to the continuous high temperatures.
In July 2025, in Suzhou, Anhui, a 43-year-old truck driver took his 16-year-old son on a trip, resulting in a fatal traffic accident where both father and son lost their lives.
