On the morning of July 26th at 11:00 am Eastern Time in Arlington, Virginia, USA, Secretary Hagsest appeared at the Pentagon to attend the Mexican Border Defense Medal award ceremony. Officials at the Pentagon are expected to present the “Mexican Border Defense Medal” to 50 active-duty military personnel, including 35 Army soldiers, 14 Marine Corps members, and 1 Navy sailor, in recognition of their contributions to the “Operation Ardent Vanguard” and the mission to secure the southern border of the United States. The medal was established by the Department of Defense in 2025 to honor US military personnel deployed to the US-Mexico border to support Customs and Border Protection (CBP) missions. The first batch of 13 service members received the award from the President in the Oval Office in December 2025.
