Recently, Chaoqing Xiaopeng New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. filed a recall of 33,473 X9 cars to the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People’s Republic of China, citing a decrease in air spring air tightness due to manufacturing process fluctuations, posing potential safety hazards.
The company will initiate the recall of Xiaopeng X9 cars produced between August 8, 2023, and August 11, 2025, starting from August 28, 2026, totaling 33,473 vehicles.
Within the scope of the recall, some vehicles may experience a decrease in air spring air tightness due to manufacturing process fluctuations. After extended use in high-temperature and high-humidity environments, the front air springs may slowly leak air, leading to the illumination of malfunction lights and text reminders. In extreme cases, this could affect the vehicle’s handling, posing safety risks.
The Xiaopeng X9 is a flagship pure electric and extended-range intelligent seven-seater MPV, equipped with dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering system, and third-row power-folding magic seats.
This marks a significant recall by the company within less than a year.
Earlier, starting from September 15, 2025, Chaoqing Xiaopeng New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. recalled 47,490 X7+ cars produced between August 20, 2024, and April 27, 2025. The X7+ is an all-electric AI smart fastback sedan introduced by Xiaopeng Motors.
During that recall, certain vehicles within the recall scope may have experienced poor contact of the steering assist motor sensor wiring harness, potentially leading to fluctuation in the steering machine sensor signal, illumination of fault warning lights, and steering assist failure, posing safety risks.
Publicly available information indicates that Chaoqing Xiaopeng New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. is an affiliate and wholly-owned subsidiary of Xiaopeng Motors, primarily responsible for investment, supply chain layout, and automotive components business. It often acts as the main entity representing Xiaopeng Motors in handling asset acquisitions or filing matters.
