On June 18th, following the red carpet premiere in the entertainment capital of Los Angeles, a large documentary film “Indestructible” held a red carpet screening event in Orange County, Southern California. “Indestructible” tells the story of Brad Browde, one of the lead dancers from Shen Yun, and his family, offering insights into the successes of Shen Yun and the challenges, support, and personal experiences of the artistic group and its members. The film also highlights how the Shen Yun artists have faced threats and intimidation from the CCP, yet remain steadfast in their beliefs, continuing their global tours to fulfill their mission of reviving traditional Chinese culture through exquisite artistry.
Mark Armijo, a partner and executive manager at a law firm, expressed his delight at meeting the Shen Yun artists at the screening. He praised the artists for their noble character, humility, talent, dedication, and the support they receive from their families.
Armijo also criticized certain media outlets for distorting the positive aspects of Shen Yun’s work, particularly mentioning his disappointment with articles from The New York Times. He emphasized the importance of responsible journalism in portraying the true essence of Shen Yun and its artists.
Former Costa Mesa Mayor, Jim Righeimer, shared his thoughts after watching the documentary, praising the film for providing insights into Shen Yun’s journey and the challenges they have faced, including interference from the CCP. He expressed disappointment over the lack of Shen Yun performances in Costa Mesa last year due to external pressures.
Righeimer admired the unwavering spirit of the Shen Yun artists in the face of adversity, comparing them to top athletes who dedicate themselves to their craft with passion and determination. He expressed hope for Shen Yun’s return to Costa Mesa for future performances.
Independent media company owner, Mark Schaftlein, highlighted the importance of understanding the CCP’s international suppression tactics and commended Shen Yun for its display of integrity, experiences, backgrounds, and dedication in the documentary. He urged everyone to seize the opportunity to watch the film and gain a deeper understanding of Shen Yun’s mission.
Gina Newton, an education specialist from the Los Angeles County Education Bureau, expressed pride in the young Shen Yun artists for their commitment, perseverance, and values. Having previously attended a Shen Yun performance with her daughter, she praised the artists for their beliefs, professionalism, and artistic talents both on and off the stage.
