On October 10th at 6:00 p.m., a taxi crashed into a roadside restaurant in Futian, Shenzhen, causing injuries to at least 5 people. The driver responsible for the accident was immediately subdued.
A viral video showed a taxi ramming into the restaurant, with a person lying on the ground in front of the wheels. Two motorcycles at the entrance were knocked over, and a woman was motionless on the nearby roadside. The signboard of the shop read “Hot Beef Noodle Soup.”
Some local netizens commented on the video section, revealing that the restaurant is usually crowded at night. At the time of the incident, a netizen who had just finished dinner next door heard a loud “bang” sound, initially mistaking it for a gas explosion. When they went to check, they found that “a taxi had gone rogue.” An eyewitness at the scene expressed being frightened and disclosed that the taxi driver was a middle-aged woman.
Another netizen at Zhongba Hospital subsidiary mentioned seeing ambulances bringing in the injured, with one young man covered in blood from head to toe.
After the incident, when some netizens went to the restaurant to eat, they noticed that the police had already cordoned off the area.
According to a report by ND News Video, the accident occurred at the intersection of Honghua Road and Pingguan Road in Futian District. A nearby shopkeeper mentioned that the incident coincided with the evening rush hour when many people were passing through Honghua Road on their way to the subway station. They heard a “bang” sound and then people shouting, initially mistaking it for a quarrel.
Following the incident, authorities set up a cordon at both ends of Honghua Road and Pingguan Road, allowing people and vehicles to exit but not enter. By around 8:30 p.m. that evening, the authorities had cleared the accident vehicle from the scene, and the involved shop was also sealed off.
On the evening of October 10th, Shenzhen traffic police reported that at 6:05 p.m. that day, a 53-year-old woman named Mou, driving a taxi on Honghua Road in Futian District, accidentally crashed into a roadside restaurant, injuring 5 people. Upon on-site testing, it was determined that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and further investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
