Former Hong Kong model turned actress Angelababy, who divorced mainland Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming in 2022 and has since been embroiled in controversy surrounding the Paris Fashion Week scandal, has been facing setbacks in her entertainment career in mainland China. Reports say she has recently returned to Hong Kong in search of new job opportunities, but was caught off-guard by paparazzi revealing her changed physique and a possible public scolding from her manager.
According to Hong Kong magazine “East Weekly,” the 36-year-old Angelababy was spotted in Hong Kong streets, appearing to seek a fresh start in the city. She has been seen meeting with movie company bosses and directors with her manager, showing a strong determination to find new collaboration opportunities.
In the photos captured by the media, Angelababy was dressed in a black crop top and dark green pants, accessorized with a navy blue baseball cap and mask. Apart from shopping at luxury stores, she was seen enjoying beef brisket noodles by the street side. Her midriff-baring outfit drew attention to her altered figure, which the media pointed out.
Additionally, Angelababy seemed to have received a scolding from her manager. When seen on the streets of Central district, her manager was visibly lecturing her loudly and gesturing, giving the impression of a superior rebuking a subordinate, while Angelababy listened with a cautious smile.
Sources claiming to be close friends of Angelababy revealed, “Her workload is not as heavy as before, so she basically takes on whatever job her manager arranges for her, without much selection as she used to.”
The report also mentioned that Angelababy is currently residing in a five-star Hong Kong hotel, footing the bill herself. While she hasn’t landed any major projects lately, her past earnings have ensured she leads a comfortable life, albeit with fewer high-profile appearances.
Angelababy tied the knot with Huang Xiaoming in 2015 and welcomed their son in 2016. Their extravagant “wedding of the century” at the Shanghai Exhibition Center drew over a hundred celebrities, setting a record for a star-studded nuptial celebration. After nearly seven years of marriage, the couple announced their divorce on Weibo in January 2022, pledging to co-parent their son, dubbed “Little Sponge.”
