Swiss knife attack injures 3 children by Chinese man

On Tuesday, October 1st, a knife attack occurred at a daycare center in Zurich, Switzerland. A Chinese man armed with a knife stabbed three children, one of whom sustained severe injuries.

According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the incident took place near the Bernina Shopping Center in the Oerlikon district of northern Zurich.

A spokesperson for the local police stated that shortly after 12:00 local time, as daycare center staff were walking with the children towards the playground, a 23-year-old Chinese man (whose name has not been disclosed) attacked the group of children, causing injuries to three of them.

One daycare staff member and a bystander managed to subdue the attacker and restrain him until the police arrived on the scene.

One five-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a hospital. The other two five-year-old boys received treatment at the scene for less severe injuries.

The authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the assailant’s attack.

The police have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Local media reported that on Tuesday afternoon, heavily armed police officers arrived at the scene, with a drone flying overhead.

Swiss media outlet “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” reported that the police conducted a search in a residential building near the daycare center. It remains unclear whether this operation is related to the attack.
