Taiwanese artist Shu Qi, on August 3rd, attended the mainland variety show “Mao Xue Wang” upon the invitation of Li Xueqin and Mao Buyi. The trio embarked on a relaxed gathering of old friends. Shu Qi openly shared the heartwarming story of her transition from friends to lovers with Feng Delun, with witty remarks and continuous laughter. She disclosed that their transition from long-time friends to marriage was not marked by grand romantic gestures but rather by understanding and comfortable companionship.
In 2016, during filming of the movie “League of Thieves” in the Czech Republic, Shu Qi and Feng Delun surprised everyone by unexpectedly announcing their “marriage notice” during a break: “Everything can go wrong, but don’t miss loving him and her.” In the wedding photo Shu Qi shared at that time, she wore a simple dress from H&M, randomly picked a veil from the locale, paired with flat shoes, and captioned, “Our wedding is this simple, our attire is this casual.” This story continues to be a topic of joy among many industry friends.
When asked about proposal ceremonies on “Mao Xue Wang,” Shu Qi stated, “No, I never wanted one. I’ve acted in too many romance films, wedding scenes, and proposals, worn too many wedding dresses, so those things hold no surprises for me. No matter how romantic, it can never match the romance on screen.”
In fact, Shu Qi and Feng Delun met during the filming of “Viva Erotica” in 1997. They remained friends for many years before blossoming into a romantic relationship. Shu Qi revealed that their relationship deepened during a low point in her career when they spent their days watching sports together, with Feng Delun’s presence being a source of healing for her.
Shu Qi admitted that she never initially saw Feng Delun as a romantic interest since he was already in a relationship at the time, and she even knew all of his past girlfriends. Thus, they continued to interact as friends. Thanks to their mutual understanding and deep trust, they decided to walk hand in hand into marriage when the time was right.
Regarding their life after marriage, Shu Qi noted that their private interactions are very natural, devoid of artificial ceremony or celebrity aura, embodying the most authentic and relaxed “atypical celebrity couple” image. Outsiders have characterized their dynamic as “extremely relaxed, teasing each other, highly independent, and mutually supportive.”
Shu Qi humorously described her and Feng Delun as a typical “competitive couple.” Firstly, they compete subtly in their work – whenever one appears busy, the other instinctively engages in work as well. Secondly, they constantly banter with each other, like when Feng Delun returns from a film festival, teasing Shu Qi, “Looks like you didn’t have any films this year.” Shu Qi once quipped that Feng Delun doesn’t even rank in the top three of her “male god” list.
