“Hong Kong Celebrity Flora Chan Receives Over 50 Stitches on Her Lips, Doctor Husband Reveals Horrific Injuries”

Hong Kong Golden Horse Award winner Michelle, also known as Wei Shiya, suffered an accident on July 30 while filming the drama series “The Hunter of Deceit.” She sustained injuries to her mouth and lips from glass shards, requiring over 50 stitches to close the wounds. Following the news of her accident, many friends from the industry expressed their concern and well-wishes.

Michelle, who won the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2025 and 2026 respectively, reportedly faced a severe mishap during the filming of a new series produced by Eric Tsang’s company on the evening of July 30. She underwent surgery and received over 50 stitches to repair the injuries.

After the incident, Michelle was swiftly taken to the hospital where her dermatologist husband, Zhou Zhian, also rushed to her side. He coordinated with a medical team to address the emergency situation and arrange for the stitches.

On August 1, Zhou Zhian took to social media to provide a detailed account of his wife’s injury and its severity for the first time, thanking everyone for their concern and support. He explained that Michelle was accidentally cut on the upper left lip by glass shards while filming on July 30, resulting in a complex wound that included a ruptured blood vessel and torn muscles. The wound was categorized as a full-thickness tear with glass fragments left in her lip.

Due to the depth of the wound and presence of foreign objects, Michelle was taken to the operating room where she underwent surgery with anesthesia. The procedure successfully removed multiple glass shards, and the extensive nature of the wound required meticulous stitching, hence the high number of stitches.

Zhou Zhian revealed that Michelle’s condition is now stable, though there is slight swelling at the wound site. Given its proximity to the oral cavity, she is currently receiving antibiotic treatment to prevent infection, with Zhou Zhian closely monitoring her recovery progress.

With Michelle on a full work hiatus, she later shared a photo on Instagram Stories, expressing gratitude for the support from plastic surgeons, anesthetists, and medical staff, and reassured everyone that her surgery went smoothly, emphasizing her determination to recover swiftly.

Michelle also apologized to the production team and affected clients for the disruption in filming schedules, promising to prioritize her wound healing and health to return to work promptly, acknowledging their understanding.

In other news, after stepping down from his position as the Content Operations Manager at Hong Kong’s Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), Eric Tsang established a new entertainment production company. Their inaugural project is the 18-episode crime investigation suspense drama “The Hunter of Deceit,” a collaboration with a mainland Chinese streaming platform. The series commenced filming in Hong Kong on July 3, with Tsang overseeing production and making a guest appearance, featuring a star-studded cast including mainland actor Vengo Gao, Hong Kong diva Kelly Yu, award-winning actors Tony Leung Ka-fai, Denise Ho, and Siu Suen-yiu.
