The Annie Awards, known as the “Oscars of the animation world,” have begun accepting entries for the 54th edition of the event, which will be held next year at Royce Hall, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of animation.
According to reports from City News Agency, the Annie Awards, organized by the Hollywood branch of the International Animated Film Association, are scheduled to take place on February 20, 2027. A total of 37 awards will be presented, covering categories such as animated feature films, short films, television and media productions, as well as student works.
The organizers also announced the addition of a new category this year, the “Best International Anime Production for TV/Media” award, which will be presented to global television or media productions that have animation as a core element and are created using traditional animation techniques, styles, or themes.
To be eligible, works must have been released or broadcast in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2026. However, certain categories such as animated short films, student works, and sponsored productions are not subject to the U.S. release or broadcast requirement.
The deadline for submissions is November 30, and the list of nominees is scheduled to be announced on January 20, 2027, with the winners being revealed at the Annie Awards ceremony.
Founded by veteran voice actress June Foray in 1972, the Annie Awards have evolved into one of the most prestigious awards in the global animation industry.
