“Alzheimer’s Care Services” organizes patient families for social gatherings

On the occasion of Father’s Day, CaringKind, an organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, held a celebration of both parents and a networking event in Flushing. Fifty participants, including dementia patients and their caregivers, gathered to share their experiences in caring for loved ones with dementia. It was a day filled with warmth and gratitude as attendees expressed their appreciation for the support provided by CaringKind.

Weijing Shi, Vice President of Diversified Services at CaringKind, emphasized that the event aimed to convey community care and compassion to dementia patients and their families. While dementia patients may eventually forget themselves and even their loved ones, the community and family continue to show them love and warmth, providing them with moments of dignity and improved quality of life. This event also offered a much-needed respite for caregivers who tirelessly dedicate themselves to their loved ones.

One notable attendee was 103-year-old Shizhu Shi and her two daughters. One of her daughters, whose husband is also a dementia patient, expressed deep gratitude towards CaringKind for the immense help they’ve received. She highlighted the significance of the various activities organized by the organization and her commitment to participating in all of them.

May, a family member of a dementia patient, shared her challenging journey of caring for her husband who has been battling dementia for nearly a decade. Initially dismissing his forgetfulness, she found herself increasingly overwhelmed as his condition worsened. However, she found solace and assistance through CaringKind, particularly praising the overflowing compassion and support extended by Weijing Shi, which connected her to vital resources and counseling agencies.

In addition to fostering a sense of community and support, the event also provided valuable information on programs such as UnitedHealthcare’s Elderly Plan and Aijia’s 24-hour home care services. The day concluded with a lucky draw, enhancing the spirit of camaraderie and care among attendees.
