On the eve of the Double Tenth National Day of the Republic of China, the Ministry of National Defense stated that since 8:52 am today (9th), it has successively detected 19 instances of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft heading out to sea, with 13 instances crossing the median line, and coordinating with warships to harass the airspace and waters around Taiwan. The Taiwanese military maintains a close watch and will respond appropriately to the situation.
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China disclosed that from 6 am on the 8th to 6 am today, 2 PLA aircraft entered the northern and southwestern airspace, along with 5 PLA warships and 2 public service vessels, totaling 9 PLA aircraft and vessels continuing activities around the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwanese military closely monitors and responds using airborne and coastal missile systems.
In the afternoon, the Ministry of National Defense issued a press release stating that starting from 8:52 am, 19 instances of PLA aircraft including J-16, J-11, Su-30, JH-7, KJ-500, Y-8 reconnaissance aircraft, and various types of combat and support aircraft and drones headed out to sea, with 13 instances crossing the median line and entering the airspace of northern, central, and southwestern Taiwan, in coordination with PLA warships under the guise of “joint combat readiness patrols”, harassing the airspace and waters around Taiwan.
The Ministry of National Defense mentioned that the Taiwanese military employs joint intelligence surveillance means to closely monitor the situation and has dispatched aircraft, ships, and missile systems to respond appropriately.
Furthermore, the Coast Guard Administration’s Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Branch released a statement saying that the 12th patrol zone discovered a formation of Chinese Coast Guard ships intruding into the waters near Kinmen today, prompting the deployment of patrol boats. At 9:10 am, four Chinese Coast Guard ships numbered “14608,” “14529,” “14607,” and “14531” sailed in pairs from the northeast and southwest of Lualuodong into the restricted waters of Kinmen.
The branch specified that the patrol boats adopted a “1 to 1” mode of close navigation to deter the Chinese Coast Guard ships from advancing further into the waters of Kinmen and continuously broadcast evacuation instructions in both Chinese and English via radio. The Chinese Coast Guard ships eventually left the restricted waters of Kinmen at 11:13 am.
The Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Branch emphasized the importance of security maintenance during the National Day period. It is also a critical time for the PLA to exploit gray zones for harassment and cognitive warfare. The coast guard stands on the front lines of national security and remains vigilant at all times, regardless of weather conditions or holidays, maintaining round-the-clock high-intensity surveillance and immediate response deployment to ensure security during the National Day holiday and to safeguard the sovereignty and maritime security of the nation.
