7 people drowned in a mining theft case in an abandoned mine in Chongqing

Recent days, a case of illegal mining occurred in Chongqing. As the illegal miners were operating in a sealed abandoned mine during heavy rainfall, a sudden influx of water caused the mine to flood, resulting in the death of 7 people.

On the night of October 5th, the Yuyang Tu and Miao Autonomous County Public Security Bureau of Chongqing issued a police bulletin stating that on October 3rd, the Yuyang County Public Security Bureau received a report from the public that individuals had lost contact in a sealed abandoned mine at the border of Yuyang County and Xiushan County.

During the search for the missing individuals, the authorities discovered a case of illegal mining. Currently, 21 illegal miners have been apprehended. Furthermore, police found 7 deceased individuals inside the sealed abandoned mine, and preliminary investigations indicate that they drowned due to a sudden flooding caused by the rain during illegal mining activities.
