On September 15th, outside the walls of the Zaozhuang Children’s Welfare Institute in Shandong Province, several disposable virus sampling tubes were found, sparking attention on social media. The institute responded by stating that these items were not from within the facility, and due to a lack of surveillance in the vicinity, the source remains unclear. Thus, the origin of these virus sampling tubes remains a mystery.
The news of multiple virus sampling tubes being discovered outside the Zaozhuang Children’s Welfare Institute in Shandong quickly went viral on Weibo. Some netizens speculated that these sampling tubes might have been taken and thrown outside the wall by children in the welfare institute due to mishandling by the institute.
According to a report by “Urban Scene,” staff members of the Zaozhuang Children’s Welfare Institute confirmed the incident, stating, “We did find some of them outside the wall.” The institute has since reported the situation to relevant medical institutions, collected all the misplaced sampling tubes, and plans to dispose of them properly.
The staff also denied the speculations of netizens, emphasizing that these sampling tubes do not belong to the institute.
The Zaozhuang Children’s Welfare Institute is a social welfare institution fully funded under the Zaozhuang Civil Affairs Bureau. Currently, the institute provides care for a total of 95 orphaned children, with 65 of them residing within the institute and 30 living with foster families.
