On August 16, a blogger named Ms. Fan was buying fruits on the streets of Zhanjiang when the shop owner helped her pick out durians. When she looked up, she couldn’t help but exclaim, “He looks so much like Tony Leung!”
Indeed, the resemblance is uncanny. Recently, a fruit shop owner in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province has caught people’s attention for looking just like the Hong Kong actor Tony Leung.
Following the release of a video, the topic “Thinking Tony Leung is picking fruits for me when I lift my head” quickly trended on social media, with netizens jokingly saying “Zhanjiang also has its own Tony Leung.”
Some netizens pointed out that whether it’s the focused expression while picking fruits or the shy smile in front of the camera, the shop owner’s demeanor highly resembles Tony Leung’s. However, there were also comments questioning, “Am I the only one who doesn’t see the resemblance?”
Recalling the incident, Ms. Fan mentioned that the shop owner became a bit shy when he heard about filming a promotional video for him, which she found quite endearing. Before leaving, he even gifted them coconuts.
The local media, “Xiaoxiang Morning Post,” managed to contact the shop owner, Mr. Weng. He admitted that friends had previously mentioned his resemblance to Tony Leung, but he never took it seriously.
Mr. Weng revealed that he is a big fan of Tony Leung and his favorite work is “Infernal Affairs.”
Since becoming popular, Mr. Weng mentioned that many netizens have purposely come to support his business, leading to a daily revenue increase of about 5000 yuan.
