Deadly Traffic Accident in Neijiang, Sichuan: Bus Collides with Pedestrians

On November 25, a pedestrian collision incident involving a bus occurred in Neijiang City, Sichuan Province. According to the police report, the driver suffered a sudden illness, resulting in one fatality and four injuries. The incident has drawn scrutiny from netizens.

Online videos show that at a crosswalk in Neijiang City, many vehicles had stopped, and a group of pedestrians was crossing the street. However, a bus did not stop and instead plowed into the pedestrians, causing them to scatter in fear. Some were unable to dodge in time and were run over by the bus. The footage shows at least four people on the ground.

Local netizens mentioned that the incident took place at the entrance of a residential area, describing it as “terrifying” and “frightening” as seen from buildings in the vicinity.

According to local media reports, an informer stated that the vehicle involved was a rural bus traveling from Pingtan Town to Neijiang.

The Traffic Police Division of Neijiang City Public Security Bureau reported that at around 8:47 am, a bus with license plate number 川K6XXX2 lost control at the intersection of Han’an Avenue and Jianshe Road in Dongxing District, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to four others. The driver, a 49-year-old man named Chen, who suffered a sudden illness, and the injured individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment. The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation.

Many online users commented that the information provided does not match eyewitness accounts, with remarks like “It’s not just one person there” and “Three were hit.” Some expressed skepticism, stating, “The explanation is as expected,” and “The handling of on-site and subsequent deaths doesn’t align.”
