Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said on Wednesday (October 7) that he believes humans could be sent to live on the moon by 2028 and claimed that the United States will beat China (CCP) in the competition to reach the moon.
In a video program on Fox News, Bezos outlined his grand vision for the future of America. He stated that in the race to send humans to the moon, the United States must surpass China (CCP) and expressed confidence in America’s ability to achieve a moon landing by 2028.
“We must beat China in the race to the moon, and I believe we can do it,” he said, noting that NASA and Blue Origin are focused on this goal. To enable long-term human presence on the moon, there must be sufficient cargo transport support.
“We must have the capability to regularly transport goods to the moon to support the operation of lunar bases,” Bezos said. “While there is still a lot of work to be done, we have every reason to believe that humans can be sent to the moon by 2028.”
Although Mars remains America’s ultimate goal, Bezos believes that a lunar settlement should come first. He described the moon as a “gift from heaven” because it is not only closer to Earth but also holds resources that can support subsequent deep space exploration.
“We will eventually go to Mars and complete all other feats. But we must first step on the moon,” he said. Moon soil can be used to manufacture solar panels, and oxygen extracted from the moon can be used as rocket propellant. The ultimate goal should be to establish a sustainable resident base on the moon.
Bezos mentioned that following an engine test accident in May, Blue Origin is now fully preparing for the New Glenn rocket to return to the skies in December. He also stated that the next launch will carry the Blue Ring vehicle, designed to deliver payloads to different orbits and even farther into deep space.
He said Blue Origin is constructing three new launch pads, with the goal of achieving daily launches.
“Once we achieve daily launches, we hope to move towards launches every hour; when we achieve launches every hour, our ultimate goal is to launch every minute,” he said, acknowledging that even his own team doubted this ultimate goal. “They think I’m crazy.”
“But I have witnessed countless ‘crazy ideas’ become reality before,” he said.
Bezos disclosed that he personally invested $28 billion in Blue Origin, and the company recently raised $10 billion from external investors for the first time.
