In the past few decades, a woman from Bay County, Michigan, has been buying lottery tickets twice a week in hopes of hitting the jackpot. Recently, her wish was finally fulfilled as she won a $1.1 million grand prize, bringing her immense joy.
According to a press release from the Michigan Lottery on April 2, the 65-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous, has been purchasing tickets for the “Lotto 47” game every Wednesday and Saturday since it was introduced decades ago.
On March 21, she bought a ticket with the numbers 04-18-20-26-27-31 at a supermarket for the “Lotto 47” game, and she was thrilled to discover that she had won the $1.1 million jackpot.
Upon receiving a text message from a neighbor informing her that the supermarket where she bought her ticket had sold the winning ticket for the “Lotto 47” jackpot, she initially thought it was great news for the store but never imagined she would be the lucky winner herself.
She exclaimed, “After finishing watching my show, I checked my ticket. When I realized I had won, I went crazy! I called some family members and neighbors to share the exciting news. Winning is truly a blessing.”
The fortunate winner recently went to the lottery headquarters to claim her prize. She opted to receive a lump sum of approximately $762,000 instead of receiving the full amount in installments. She plans to save this money for the future.
Each “Lotto 47” ticket costs only $1. Players choose six numbers from 1 to 47, with a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million. If no one wins the jackpot in a given draw, the prize money will continue to accumulate until there is a winner. The drawings for this game take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m.
In a previous report, it was mentioned that a man from Michigan also purchased “Lotto 47” tickets with the same numbers for 20 years and eventually won a massive $32.91 million jackpot, the largest prize in the history of the “Lotto 47” game.
