In recent days, Taiwanese internet celebrity “八炯” (Bajiong) released a second interview with former Chinese People’s Armed Police officer, Sam. In the first episode, Sam revealed corruption within the armed forces, including soldiers’ food allowance being embezzled, gasoline being stolen and sold, new recruits being abused, and weapons and equipment being falsified. In the second episode, Sam further exposed that the entire Chinese military and police system is a system for making money, and stated that Xi Jinping is the last generation of CCP leaders, urging Taiwanese people to see the situation clearly and not betray Taiwan.
Sam served in the People’s Armed Police in Xinjiang in 1998, later worked in foreign trade, and after participating in domestic protests in China, he was repeatedly interrogated by Chinese state security departments. In 2023, he fled to the United States with his son and obtained political asylum.
Sam stated in the second interview that after leaving the military for over 20 years, there has been no change within the system. He described it as a money-making system where everyone is there to make money, although the standards for making money have changed. He explained various corrupt practices within the military, such as profiting from recruitment fees and bribery at different levels of leadership.
Corruption also extended to everyday expenses like food allowances, obtaining a driver’s license, serving as a medical staff member to avoid training, or even raising pigs to embezzle the feed money. Promotion opportunities within the military were also tainted with bribery, with leadership positions often reserved for the children of the elite, while common soldiers paid their way up the ranks.
Projects, including construction and engineering work, were also rife with corruption. Sam described instances where soldiers manually dug foundations instead of using machinery to embezzle money from project costs. He also detailed corrupt practices in missile production facilities and the poor quality of military equipment.
Sam shared his views on Xi Jinping, likening the CCP’s reform and opening up policy to the unsuccessful Self-Strengthening Movement of the Qing dynasty. He believed that true reform requires dismantling the current system, which the conservative forces resist. He asserted that Xi Jinping’s aim is to safeguard the Communist Party and the current system from any real reform that could threaten their power.
Regarding the Taiwan issue, Sam highlighted the danger of Chinese internet censorship and propaganda, emphasizing the importance for Taiwan to stay vigilant and not align with the CCP. He warned that Taiwan is currently in a wartime period, and engaging in actions that benefit China, such as selling out Taiwan, would be detrimental to its survival.
Sam emphasized the need for Taiwan to focus on military training, equip itself with advanced defense systems, and resist China’s comprehensive united front strategy. He advised against underestimating the seriousness of the current situation and the lengths China is willing to go to undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty.
In conclusion, Sam urged Taiwan to stay unified, strengthen its defenses, and resist the pressure from China to compromise its principles. He called on Taiwanese to be aware of the CCP’s deceptive tactics and to stand firm in safeguarding Taiwan’s sovereignty and democracy.
