Reports from mainland China on the evening of the 16th indicated that a bridge collapse had happened on the Liaoning section of the Beijing-Harbin Expressway. The viral video shows vehicles moving slowly on the highway, with fire trucks, police cars, and rescue cranes parked on the side of the road.

According to a report by “Da Wan News,” around 10:30 p.m. on the 16th, a message from a truck driver group mentioned, “On the Beijing-Harbin Expressway, towards Shenyang direction, at the Liaozhong Service Area 6 kilometers in, a bridge collapsed causing traffic congestion. Please take alternative routes.”

Officials from the Road Department of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Transportation stated on the 17th that the bridge structure suffered damage with visible depressions, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The customer service of the Beijing-Harbin Expressway Liaoning section also confirmed on the 17th that a bridge had collapsed in one direction towards Shenyang, but there was no information on casualties yet. Emergency repair work was being carried out on the affected road section, while other lanes remained open for traffic.

Mapping software indicated that the incident occurred approximately 6 kilometers west of the Liaozhong toll station on the Beijing-Harbin Expressway in the eastbound direction, where construction work was ongoing. The Panwu line, a city road intersecting with the expressway, was closed off in the west-to-east direction.

An eyewitness speaking to “Flow News” mentioned that they passed by the scene but couldn’t stop to assess the situation closely, so they were not certain about the exact details but could tell an accident had occurred.
