On the morning of June 20th, a woman jumped off a building at the Qingdao Excellence Century Center. Following this rare incident, the local street office reported the situation, rather than the public security department. The report stated that the deceased committed suicide due to health reasons and was not an employee of the building. The suicide motive does not match the rumors circulating online, and there is currently no definitive conclusion.
In the morning of the 20th, a woman jumped off the 1st floor of the Qingdao Excellence Century Center. In the afternoon, the jurisdictional area of the non-public security agency, Shibeiqu Dunhua Road Street Office, released a report stating that the suicide occurred at 8:40 am, and the deceased, Wang XX, was only 22 years old and not an employee of the building.
Some netizens questioned, “Was there no discretion? An external visitor who is not an employee came from afar to jump off the building at Excellence. Moreover, they informed you that external visitors cannot enter Excellence without an appointment.”
According to the scene, when the woman jumped, the huge impact smashed a hole in the building’s glass balcony, before falling to the ground. Her limbs and body were twisted into a gruesome shape, which was unbearable to look at.
It was rumored online that the woman leaped from the 58th floor of the building, ending her young life. Allegedly, the woman, a female anchor from a media company in Qingdao, wanted to terminate her contract. However, the company refused to allow it and demanded her to pay millions in compensation. The anchor then directly jumped from the building.
Contrary to the online rumor, the street office’s report stated, “Due to feeling ill, she left a message for her family before taking her own life.”
A journalist from Da Ji Yuan called the Dunhua Road Street Office in Shibeiqu, which issued the report, to inquire how they obtained information about the deceased’s suicide. The office staff mentioned that the specific personnel dealing with the matter had already left for the day, asking the journalist to call again at 9 am the next morning.
When asked why the information was reported by the street office and not by the local public security agency, they gave a similar excuse for not providing details.
The fact that the deceased was without a shirt at the time she jumped also sparked speculation online.
According to publicly available information on Baidu Baike, the Qingdao Excellence Century Center is located in the core area of the North Central Business District of Qingdao, with convenient transportation networks.
The Excellence Century Center has a total area of 440,000 square meters, with the main building soaring 281 meters high. It consists of four international 5A Grade-A pure commercial office buildings and a 65,000-square-meter commercial center, forming a landmark commercial complex.
An internet user named “Anonymous Cow” from mainland China disclosed the suicide incident to Da Ji Yuan, expressing gratitude for the website’s ongoing attention to the domestic situation in China and representing the conscience of Chinese people. The informant also stated, “Young people in China are under incredible pressure. I work nearby and feel that the young people around me are increasingly oppressed. I hope the evil regime of the Chinese Communist Party ends soon.”
Moreover, a leader of the Tiananmen Square Movement and artist in Guizhou, Jifeng, conveyed to Da Ji Yuan, “Many people I know, including college graduates and some postgraduates, cannot find work currently, and remain at home. Especially some parents who hold official positions also stay at home for quite some time, and the proportion is considerable.”
He emphasized, “How many of those who are alive feel hopeful now? The Red Second Generation, Rich Second Generation, and Official Second Generation all feel hopeless.”
He further noted that there is a significant increase in suicide among young people currently. From May 10th to 24th, there were at least 12 cases of jumping to death from a bridge in Shanxi Taiyuan, prompting authorities to deploy police and security guards to prevent further incidents.
He explained that the prevailing indoctrination has plunged people into chaos, leaving young people not only without hope but in despair. “A person without faith, without a job, without money, cannot see hope, has no goal to strive for; they have nothing. The number of suicides and cases of depression will continue to rise.”
Furthermore, independent Chinese writer Lu Qianrong recently informed Da Ji Yuan that on June 12th, there were 16 suicides by jumping into the Fu River in Fuzhou, Jiangxi. On the morning of the 13th, another man jumped into the river at the same location.
He attributed the increasing number of suicide incidents to the regression of the Chinese Communist regime, mimicking Mao Zedong’s cultish rule of the Cultural Revolution and heading towards complete North Koreanization. This has caused the economic, political, legal, social, and cultural aspects of China to collapse, with businesses closing down, local governments going bankrupt, workers losing jobs, and people struggling to survive, leading to an abundance of suicides by jumping off buildings and into rivers.
