“Series of Alleged Instances of Power-for-money Transactions Exposed, Pressured ‘Era of The Yellow Emperor'”

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officially announced on October 9th that former director of the China Academy of Arts, Lian Ji, and former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region People’s Congress, Ding Ye Xian, have been expelled from the party. Lian Ji was accused of engaging in power and money transactions. He had implemented official orders to suppress the liberal magazine “Yan Huang Chunqiu.”

According to the CCP Central Commission for Discipline Inspection’s report on October 9th, former director of the China Academy of Arts, Lian Ji, and former deputy director of the Tibet People’s Congress Standing Committee, Ding Ye Xian, have been expelled from the party.

Lian Ji was investigated in February this year. He was reported to have violated rules by accepting banquet invitations, receiving money under the guise of “writing fees,” seeking benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres, accepting gifts and cash improperly paid by others, engaging in greedy power and money transactions, using his position for personal gain in business operations, project contracting, and job adjustments, and illegally accepting large sums of money.

Ding Ye Xian was investigated in April this year. The official report stated that Ding Ye Xian illegally occupied guest rooms for personal use, accepted banquet invitations improperly, sought benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres, failed to report personal matters according to regulations, accepted gifts, engaged in profit-making activities improperly, collected money extensively, used his position for personal gain in company listings, project contracting, business operations, and illegally accepted huge sums of money.

Lian Ji is a close ally of former CCP Politburo Standing Committee member Liu Yunshan. In 2016, during his tenure as the director of the China Academy of Arts, he was involved in suppressing and forcibly taking over the liberal magazine “Yan Huang Chunqiu.”
