On Tuesday, October 6th, at 12:25 p.m., an attempted robbery occurred at the Medina Jewelers in Lynnwood, Washington.
According to authorities and local media reports, several masked thieves drove a pickup truck through the storefront of the jewelry store in broad daylight and rushed inside. The store owner pulled out a gun and fired shots, causing the thieves to scatter and flee in panic.
Surveillance footage showed three vehicles circling in the parking lot, with one white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck smashing through the glass storefront, sending employees running in all directions.
Subsequently, several masked suspects entered the store, with one appearing to be holding an axe.
According to FOX13 Seattle, the store owner fired a gun, causing the criminals to flee empty-handed. There were no reports of injuries on the scene, but police stated that it was unclear if any suspects were hit by the owner’s gunfire.
Authorities are still investigating whether any of the suspects were armed.
Lynnwood Police Department Commander Joe Dickenson told the media, “A daylight robbery like this is quite uncommon for us.”
Dickenson described, “There were several witnesses walking outside, and several pedestrians nearby; suddenly, a car crashed into a building, shots were fired, and people were in a panic.”
Police reported that the suspects fled in a black BMW SUV and a silver Toyota or Infiniti sedan. The BMW collided with a parked vehicle during the escape, possibly causing damage to the passenger side.
Police are requesting anyone who can identify the suspects or vehicles seen in the surveillance footage to send tips to crimetips@lynnwoodwa.gov, referencing case number 2026-37986.
