Major Traffic Accident in Dandong, Liaoning Province Leaves 8 Dead and 13 Injured

On the morning of May 3, a serious traffic accident occurred in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, resulting in 8 deaths and 13 injuries.

According to a report by China’s Central Television News on May 3, around 7 a.m. that morning, a one-sided traffic accident occurred near the village of Shihuiyao in Huangtukan, Donggang City, Dandong, Liaoning Province.

After initial verification with the local authorities, it was confirmed that the driver, Mr. Chang, was driving a Ford Transit Iveco van (with a capacity for 6 people, but carrying 21 people) at the time of the accident. According to relevant local departments, most of the occupants in the vehicle were blueberry pickers, and the vehicle collided with trees on the side of the road in a one-sided traffic accident. As of now, the accident has resulted in 8 deaths and 13 injuries (all of whom have been hospitalized). Investigations into the cause of the accident and follow-up measures are currently underway.

Earlier, the official Chinese state media Xinhua News Agency reported that on May 4, their journalist obtained information from relevant departments in Liaoning Province and Dandong City that on May 3, a traffic accident occurred within Dandong, resulting in 8 deaths. The specific details and causes of the accident are currently under investigation.
