On Monday, April 27, President Trump and First Lady Melania are set to welcome King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom for a state visit to the United States at the White House. The royal couple has already arrived in the US.
White House spokesperson, Levitt, stated during a press conference on Monday that First Lady Melania has led all the preparations for this state visit.
“This visit will highlight the longstanding and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom,” Levitt said.
This state visit by King Charles III is the most anticipated and influential one during his reign, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of American independence and marking the first visit to the US by a British monarch in twenty years.
Buckingham Palace previously announced that this state visit is to celebrate the historical ties and modern bilateral relationship between the US and UK, as well as to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace expressed gratitude to all those involved in ensuring the visit proceeds as scheduled and maintaining security, looking forward to a successful start of the state visit tomorrow.
According to the four-day visit to the US itinerary released by the British Royal Family in early April, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit New York City and Virginia after their White House visit.
