On the morning of May 31st, the talent agency ADOR held an emergency shareholders’ meeting, with ADOR’s head, Min Hee-jin, convening a press conference in the afternoon. Min not only presented her achievements at ADOR to refute the allegations of “dereliction of duty” made by its parent company HYBE but also called on HYBE to stop the disputes for the sake of shareholders and common interests, moving towards a new chapter.
This marked Min Hee-jin’s second emergency press conference since she was accused by HYBE last month of allegedly seizing control of the company. In order to prevent being dismissed or replaced as CEO by HYBE, she submitted a restraining order application to the court prohibiting HYBE from exercising their voting rights to dismiss her, and the court’s ruling on the 30th stated that HYBE cannot dismiss or terminate Min Hee-jin, otherwise compensating her with 20 billion Korean won.
During the press conference, she also addressed the accusations made by HYBE about pursuing personal interests and money. She denied the money-loving allegations and reiterated her gratitude towards those who supported her, expressing her determination to reciprocate the encouragement she received.
Min Hee-jin emotionally expressed her gratitude towards those who supported her despite the misunderstandings surrounding her, acknowledging the strength she gained from their support. She also mentioned how her fans from NewJeans encouraged her through private messages, reinforcing her resolve to overcome difficulties with their support.
She disclosed that despite the court ruling in her favor, there are still many issues to resolve in the future. Min Hee-jin emphasized the importance of resolving the situation and allowing NewJeans to succeed, realizing the shared vision with the members.
Min Hee-jin proposed reconciliation with HYBE, hoping for a sincere and smooth progression of the plans she has envisioned for NewJeans. She expressed her desire to find a common ground with HYBE and put an end to the conflicts for the benefit of everyone involved.
As NewJeans is set to perform in Tokyo Dome, Japan in June and planning a world tour next year, Min Hee-jin highlighted the necessity of ensuring an adequate number of songs, despite the disruptions caused by the controversies of the past month.
She stressed the significance of focusing on the essence of the issues rather than engaging in word games and emotional entanglements, calling for a rational and constructive approach to resolving the conflicts with HYBE.
Min Hee-jin reiterated her commitment to the collective vision of NewJeans, emphasizing that her intentions are not driven by personal gain but by the desire to achieve success with the group, without causing losses to anyone. She urged for a shift in mindset towards constructive discussions for the benefit of all involved parties.
In conclusion, Min Hee-jin called for a cessation of the emotional and exhausting disputes with HYBE, advocating for a rational and forward-thinking approach for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders. She emphasized the importance of putting aside personal emotions and working towards a harmonious future for the organization and its members, aiming for constructive dialogue and positive outcomes.
