The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Tuesday (March 31st) that a top Canadian fugitive who illegally entered the United States was captured in Mississippi recently.
According to the DHS statement, Adrian Vincent Walker, a 30-year-old individual, was one of the top 25 international fugitives from Canada, charged with first-degree murder. He is currently facing federal charges for illegal entry and unlawful firearm possession.
On March 23rd, Walker was apprehended at a residence in Tupelo, Mississippi. During the operation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers found him in possession of firearms illegally.
Assistant Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Lauren Bis expressed gratitude to the brave ICE law enforcement officers in a statement, as one of Canada’s wanted fugitives is now in custody. This person was wanted in Canada for murder and is now facing charges in the U.S. for illegal entry and illegal possession of firearms.
The statement mentioned that Walker was wanted by the Toronto Police Service (TPS) for a shooting incident that occurred on May 7, 2024, in the York District in Toronto.
According to Canadian authorities, the shooting incident resulted in the death of Trevor Dalton John, 31, and another woman who was injured but survived.
Another suspect, 20-year-old Kemyan Franklyn, was arrested a few days after the shooting incident and is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Following the incident, Walker was labeled a wanted fugitive by the Toronto police. U.S. federal prosecutors stated that Walker had been using an alias to hide in Mississippi.
He had previously served over three years in a Canadian prison for a serious assault charge. Before being extradited back to Canada to face the murder and attempted murder charges, he will first face federal charges in the U.S. for illegal entry and illegal firearm possession.
The DHS statement mentioned that this case is part of “Operation Take Back America,” which is led by the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) in investigating and prosecuting. “Operation Take Back America” is a nationwide effort aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating drug trafficking groups, and transnational criminal organizations in the United States.
